Art Director

Overview 

Art Director possessing strong concept and design skills with a great aesthetic. Candidates will be responsible for all e-commerce photo shoots partnering closely with casting and production, styling and retouching teams. Applicants must have a solid understanding of lighting and composition principles, as well as experience giving hair and makeup direction. A true eye for editing and understanding of individual selling point for each garment is key. The candidate must have a great understanding of Madewell aesthetic along with excellent organizational, collaborative and interpersonal skills to excel in this role. A strong knowledge of fashion (both runway looks and editorial), of photographers and seasonal trends is also required.

We want you to…

  • Collaborate with production team on casting, photographer and freelance team choice for shoots
  • Collaborate with styling team
  • Edit all photoshoots on set
  • Contribute to the design team’s library of inspiration references. 
  • Collaborate with studio and photographers and stylists to provide assets. 
  • Collaborate with the retouching team to carry out cosmetic alterations and color accuracy for both on-figure and still imagery. 

 

 

Oh, and by the way, you…

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job. 
  • High-level of taste and visual aesthetics. 
  • Visually literacy and a passionate interest in fashion, seasonal trends and fashion editorials. 
  • Excellent production skills and craftsmanship. 
  • Detail-oriented, team player with creative problem solving and excellent communication skills. 
  • Flexibility & Time Management: ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and take responsibilities for deadlines. 
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively
  • Strong command of typography, layout, form and color
  • Proficiency with Adobe CC. Knowledge of Capture One is a plus.
