UI/UX Engineer

UI Engineer/Interface Developer

 

In this Role, You Will:

  • Work as a member of the Brand Creative team to produce front-end code supporting monthly, bi-monthly, and daily madewell.com creative launches
  • Work with brand and product designers to convert InVision prototypes to high-fidelity web deliverables
  • Work extensively with SFCC Business Manager to create, schedule, and publish front-end creative content
  • Build front-end code supporting multi-variate testing using Monetate
  • Collaborate with our SI (Systems Integrator) to implement functional changes to madwell.com; write UI code, submit pull requests, engage in code reviews as part of a bi-weekly Sprint cycle
  • Foster strong designer/developer communication to drive brilliant creative results; leverage subject-matter expertise to guide team on best practices and technology choices
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing and Tech teams to foster an exceptional digital practice at Madewell
  • Collaborate with external vendors and agencies on all web technology matters

 

You Should Have:

  • 5 years experience authoring high-quality, production-ready front-end code
  • Expert knowledge of responsive CSS; strong understanding of the Box Model, Flexbox, Grid, and mobile-first patterns
  • Experience working with component-based UI; demonstrated ability to create abstractions and code for reusability
  • Expert knowledge of digital media; strong experience optimizing video and images with an emphasis on quality and mobile performance
  • Demonstrated proficiency writing modern JavaScript (ES6), and familiarity with relevant build tooling (Gulp, Webpack, or Parcel)
  • Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations
  • Awareness of accessibility and ADA compliance
  • Strong understanding full-stack web development; experience working with servers, databases, and APIs

 

Bonus points for:

  • Familiarity with SFCC Business Manager (content slots, content assets, campaigns, replications)
  • Familiarity with SFCC platform development (ISML, Controllers, OCAPI)
  • Experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue)
  • Experience with Content Management Systems
  • Node.js experience
