Job description:

The Associate - Madewell Operations role is a multi-dimensional role focused on both operational and process improvement as well as analytics. In this position, you will rethink and rework the sample management process, including maintain sample data, reinforcing adherence to sample guidelines and corporate dates and implementing best practices around sample handling.  You will also support the team in an analytical capacity, working on ad-hoc initiatives and process improvement for both the Sourcing Function and its internal partners.  This role reports into the Manager of Sourcing Operations and works cross functionally with the sourcing, merchandising, technical design, styling, visual and marketing teams.



  • Sample Management
    • Coordinate the effective execution of processes around sample handling with cross functional teams, including ordering, receiving, and tracking
    • Work closely with Styling, Merchandising and Sourcing teams to determine the seasonal photo sample calendar
    • Act as a liaison between vendors and cross-functional partners on the status of samples
    • Manage internal tools to track status of samples and communicate updates to the teams
    • Partner with the Sample Library team to make sure sample tracking tools are up to date and internal processes are aligned
    • Support cross functional teams providing and analyzing sample data and reporting out to cross functional teams


  • General Ops Management
    • Provide analytical support in projects oriented to solve operational issues among cross functional teams
    • Partner with Manager to support ad-hoc initiatives as required
    • Support Manager in the design and improvement of new and existing processes and tools
    • Support Manager in turning analysis and recommendations into effective and concise processes to be communicated to the teams
    • Understand departmental processes and how they impact data tools and reporting
    • Support Manager in maintenance and modifications to current reporting tools 



  • 1-2 years of related work experience
  • Proficiency in Excel is required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and results-driven problem solver
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to manage and manipulate large amounts of data
  • Ability to prioritize projects and multitask 
  • Creative thinker
